Varadis Partners with IDEAS for Galileo Second Generation Space Program

Varadis, a global leader in radiation detection and monitoring technology, has been chosen by Integrated Detector Electronics AS (IDEAS) as its radiation monitoring sensor partner for the Galileo Second Generation (G2) space program. Galileo, the world’s most precise satellite navigation system, serves four billion users around the globe.

Sebastian Benoit, Senior Space Project Manager at Integrated Detector Electronics AS (IDEAS): “IDEAS selected Varadis sensors for their extensive space heritage and world leading performance parameters, which are a perfect match for this mission.”

Varadis’ VT06 RADFET (Radiation Sensing Field Effect Transistor), certified as a NASA EEE-INST-002 S1 Level 3 screened part, will contribute to the total ionizing dose (TID) measurements taken during the Galileo Second Generation program.

Brad Wrigley, Varadis CEO: “It has been a pleasure collaborating with the IDEAS team to identify the most effective solution for one of the most impactful satellite missions in the history of the space industry. With the number of satellites in orbit growing at an extraordinary rate, understanding the impact of radiation on components and circuitry throughout a satellite’s lifetime is absolutely critical.  We are absolutely delighted to support IDEAS and the European Space Agency (ESA) in this endeavor.”
